The tragic shooting in Florida Road, Durban, which took place on Friday night, has been captured on CCTV footage that has been widely circulated.

The video shows Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, who both lost their lives in the incident.

The footage, which is somewhat blurry, depicts AKA embracing a friend. He then shakes hands with the friend, looking over his shoulder down the street, before rejoining his group. Suddenly, a man dressed in a white sweater and hat runs up to AKA and begins shooting at him multiple times.

AKA falls to the ground as those around him flee. The shooter then crosses the road and disappears from sight.

Both AKA and Motsoane were pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.

The ANC in the eThekwini region has stated that “the recent footage showing the suspects shooting AKA and ‘Tibz’ at close range necessitates the deployment of a team of skilled ballistics experts to gather enough evidence and examine the crime scene. In addition, IT specialists should also be tasked with analyzing the footage.”

CCTV footage of RIP AKA shooting emerges. Now the SAPS should get to work.
