Ethiopia’s Alemeneshi Hereha Guta wins Lagos City Marathon Female

Alemeneshi Hereha Guta of Ethiopia dominated the 2023 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, crossing the finish line first among the women in a time of 2 hours, 40 minutes, and 36 seconds.

The 42 km race started at the National Stadium in Surulere and ended at Eko Atlantic City along the Ahmadu Bello Way in Victoria Island.

Guta, who placed second behind Dagne Siranesh Yirga in the previous year’s event, will be taking home a substantial prize of $50,000. Meanwhile, Urisa Kebebe Chala of Ethiopia and Naomi Mayo of Kenya, who came in second and third place, respectively, will receive $40,000 and $30,000.
