Chelsea’s record signing, Enzo Fernandez, made his debut for the club but couldn’t secure a win for the Blues against Fulham at Stamford Bridge.
The £107m move from Benfica to Chelsea was completed three days ago and Fernandez was immediately put into the starting lineup by Graham Potter.
Fernandez had a solid performance, almost scoring with a curling shot that missed the post by inches.
Kai Havertz also came close to scoring, but his lobbed effort from Hakim Ziyech’s pass hit the crossbar and was cleared off the line.
Despite efforts from debutant David Datro Fofana, Chelsea struggled to create clear goal-scoring chances and only had three shots on target. Fulham played well and deserved the point, moving up to sixth in the table.
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly spent heavily in January to boost the club’s chances of a top-four finish, but they are still struggling in front of goal with only two goals in their last six games.
New arrivals Mykhailo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke and Fofana also played in the match but were unable to improve Chelsea’s goal-scoring record.
