Starlink, owned by Elon Musk, is now offering satellite internet service to customers in Nigeria.

This comes after pre-order sales were announced a few weeks ago. Customers can purchase the starter kit for $600 and pay a monthly subscription fee of $43. The service is now active in Nigeria and customers can get it at a lower rate with a 30-day free trial.

The hardware is priced at N274,098 and the subscription fee is N19,260.

The download speeds are typically 50-200 Mbps with no contracts and a 30-day trial. Shipping times are estimated at 1-2 weeks.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, has described the development as a milestone.

We have made it again. @SpaceX thank you for hosting me in your Headquarters, USA in December, 2022 to complete the logistics for the deployment. https://t.co/gkp2sBkR8i

Starlink had been in talks with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to secure the necessary licenses to launch in Nigeria.
