David De Gea made two crucial saves for United, but a missed chance from Casemiro late in the game and a yellow card for the Brazilian, which means he will be suspended for their next match, added to their disappointment.
The draw takes United above Newcastle into third place, level on 39 points with second-place Manchester City, and eight points behind leaders Arsenal. Palace remains in 12th with 23 points.
