2022 has turned out to be an interesting year in the Nigerian movie industry, also known as Nollywood. A healthy number of movies have been released on Netflix, which is fast becoming the most popular movie streaming service in Nigeria.

- Blood sisters: Blood sisters is unarguably one of the top Nollywood movies in 2022. It was released on the 5th of May 2022 and featured top actors like Ini-Dima Okojie, Nancy Isime, Ramsey Nouah, Kate Henshaw, Uche Jumbo, Kehinde Bankole, Daniel Etim Effing, Deyemi Okanlawon and others. The movie tells the story of two ladies who were the best of friends from different ethnic groups and who became fugitives after murdering Kola (Sarah’s fiancé) at their engagement party.
- Anikulapo: The movie directed by Kunle Afolayan was set in the 17th-century ancient Oyo Kingdom and premiered on Netflix on September 30, 2022. The movie is about a young man who got the gift of bringing people back to life; however, he was overcome by greed and his love for women, which led to his untimely death. The producer, Afolayan portrayed Yoruba culture, and it was filmed in Oyo state. This Nollywood movie starred Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Sola Sobowale, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, and Taiwo Hassan amongst others.
- Glamour girls: This movie is a remake of the 1994 glamour Girls movie. It speaks about a group of ladies living an extravagant lifestyle as high-end escorts, irrespective of their status or what society thinks. The movie featured stars like Sharon Ooja, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Joselyn Dumas, Toke Makinwa, Uzor Arukwe, Femi Branch, Ejike Asiegbu, and others.
- Brotherhood: Brotherhood is a crime-action thriller film produced by award-winning filmmaker, Jade Osiberu. Brotherhood features a blend of the new and old Nollywood, including Falz, Basketmouth, Sam Dede, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Deyemi Okanlawon, Tobi Bakre, Mercy Aigbe, Omawumi, Toni Tones, and Big Brother Naija stars Dorathy Bachor, Dianne Russet, Seyi Awolowo, and Boma Akpofure.
- The ‘Man of God’ is a movie directed by Bolanle Austen Peters. This movie plots around a man forsaking his religious background and discipline to pursue his ambition. The movie talks about the struggles in the Christian faith, life as clergy, and living as a clergy child with high hopes being placed on such people by church members. This Nigerian movie provides an avenue for self-reflection, family life, religious beliefs, and crimes. Cast include; Akah Nnanni, Osas Ighodaro, Dorcas Shola Fapson, Atlanta Bridget Johnson, Mawuli Gavor, and others.
