2022 was a remarkable year for TV and web shows! In a year full of splashy spectacle, bombastic comedies, and intriguing movies, we were spoiled for choice. Difficult decisions had to be made. So, to make our best-of list, a movie had to be more than big and stuffed with stars and nostalgia; it had to be fresh, thrilling, and unforgettable.
With that in mind, here are OSG’s for the top 5 Nigerian series on Showmax in 2022.
1. Judging Matters: Judging Matters is a reality TV show which helps to address the issues fore-mentioned using the arbitration system; it deals with minor cases of real people getting justice from a small claims court. Judging Matters is entertaining, but it’s also a useful source of education and information about the Lagos State Justice system. Justice Olusola Williams resolves civil suits, disputes, and small-scale conflicts quickly, effectively and entertainingly with the help of lawyer Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.
2. The Real Housewives of Lagos (RHOLagos) follows the opulent lives of six of the most glamorous women in Lagos, Nigeria: businesswoman Carolyna Hutchings, influencer Laura Ikeji-Kanu, lawyer and luxury hair brand owner Chioma Ikokwu, celebrity stylist Toyin Lawani- Adebayo, Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo and PR expert Mariam Timmer.
3. Diiche: The series tells the story of Diiche, an A-list actress, who becomes a prime suspect in a high-profile murder investigation over the death of Nnamdi, her fiancé. As the search for Nnamdi’s killer kicks off, Diiche tries to prove her innocence – but a story from almost 30 years ago, known only to her mother, reveals the tussle between good and evil.
4. Flawsome: The series Flawsome, revolves around the lives of four friends, portrayed by Bisola Aiyeola, Ini Dima-Okojie, Sharon Ooja and Enado Odigie, as they navigate their personal and professional lives while bound by the flawed, yet unbreakable ties they share.
5. Crime and Justice Lagos: Crime and Justice Lagos explores the activities of the fictional Serious and Special Crimes Unit (SSCU) headed by its charismatic boss, Deputy Commissioner of Police Femi Biboye (William Benson), and made up of an elite team of top detectives led by Superintendent Kelechi ‘KC’ Farasin (Folu Storms) and Superintendent Danladi Dikko (Jammal Ibrahim).
