Kamarudeen Usman popularly known as Kamaru Usman is a Nigerian-American professional martial artist and wrestler.
He is the former UFC Welterweight Champion. He was also the Ultimate Fighter 21 tournament winner. As of August 8, 2022, he is #1 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings for welterweights.
Usman was born in Nigeria, and grew up in Dallas, Texas. He is a two-time NCAA Division II National champion and three-time All-American freestyle wrestler. He has a daughter, Samirah, and a brother, Mohammed, who also competes in the UFC Heavyweight division.
Usman started wrestling in his sophomore year in high school, at Bowie High School in Arlington, Texas.
