The 51st and current Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has spoken on the 3m metrics tonnes fertilizer plant.
In the Ooni’s post on Instagram, he wrote;
It’s been an amazing and epic journey towards achieving the most ambitious three million metric tonnes-capacity Dangote urea fertilizer plant in Africa and one of the largest in the world. Today, I joined eminent Nigerians in congratulating our brother and friend, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, on the commissioning of this remarkable and inspiring self-sustaining food economic transformation in Nigeria and across Africa.
Nigeria is known for being a significant importer of fertiliser. This historic endeavour has various dimensions and represents the gradual abolition of our country’s hooked dependency on fertiliser product imports. This project, which is one of the finest advancements in making Africa self-sufficient in food production, should be celebrated by us all. Our farmers have recently suffered as a result of a fertilizer supply constraint and a price increase. Significantly, food commodity costs are pushing families into poverty and endangering human survival.
With this shift, our conventional armchair of importing fertilizer products will be weaning to its lowest ebb. Alhaji Dangote inspires us as a country to think deeply about our collective allegiance and responsibility to our dear nation. We can only survive when we strive together to generate goods and services for domestic consumption while also exporting them to the rest of the world. No country can subsist only on imported commodities. As we celebrate this great development, the lesson for all of us is to believe in Africa’s tenacious spirit, which is allowing our best and brightest to write the stories of our future.
I’m thrilled that we have millions of Dangotes in our great young Nigerians who are making tremendous, impressive, and visible contributions to our nation’s future. Their landmarks, positive impacts and successes are woven into the fabric of our villages, cities and across the nation. They are boldly constructing our modern industries in creative culture, fintech, agriculture, artificial intelligence, etc.
Nobly and with all sense of patriotism, they are making daily sacrifices while sweating in dignity and holding aloft the bonds that unite us all. Nigeria needs them to thrive, and the government policies must provide unfettered in-built access, privileges, and opportunities to our young people in order for them to build our nation’s prosperous future.
