After being freed, the enraged Ukrainian sailor who attempted to sink a wealthy Russian’s £5 million-plus yacht in the Mediterranean after conflict broke out at home declared: ‘I’d do it again.’
The anonymous 55-year-old mechanic claimed he sunk the ship in Mallorca because his boss allegedly sells weapons to Putin that are used to kill and maim his compatriots.
‘I don’t regret what I’ve done, and I would do it again,’ he told the police
Alexander Mijeev, a former chairman of the Russian Helicopter Corporation who took over state-owned weapons producer Rostec six years ago, docked the 156ft luxury yacht Lady Anastasia at Port Adriano.
Shortly after Russia’s invasion began, a member of Mijeev’s staff, who had worked with him for several years, decided to sink the ship.
It was said that he allegedly opened three valves on the five-cabin yacht so it would take on water “as an act of revenge.”
