The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced the arrangement of a special flight operation for the evacuation of Nigerians stucked in the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
Geoffrey Onyeama, the minister of foreign affairs disclosed this in an interview with NTA. He said the Nigerian embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine has been contacted to arrange those wishing to return home from other areas including Donestk and Luhensk.
During the interview, he assured Nigerians that the ministry is following the event since the beginning and promised to do everything for the safety of lives of Nigerians in Ukraine, especially students.
Earlier on Thursday, February 24, the ministry of foreign affairs assured Nigerians of the safety of her citizens in Ukraine. In a statement signed by Francisca K. Omayuli, spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, disclosed that measures are currently ongoing to ensure the safety of Nigerians and facilitate the evacuation of those that are interested to leave without coercion.
