On Wednesday evening, armed robbers assaulted two banks and a police station in Osun State, killing seven persons, including police officers.
Four police officers and three people were killed by the robbers who also stormed the Ikire Divisional Police Headquarters.
Yemisi Opalola, a police spokesman, verified the incident in an interview on Thursday morning.
The armed thieves, she stated, were around 35 years old and arrived in five vehicles to carry out the robberies.
She said “They attacked Ikire Divisional Police HQ and the Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) pinned down at Ikoyi-Osun with several explosive devices and several gun firing in a bid to subdue the capacity of the Police while attempting to Rob First Bank Ikire and Access Bank Apomu respectively.”
