Speaker of the House of Representative, Femi Gbajabiamila has confirmed the death of a newspaper vendor shot by one of his security aides.
Gbajabiamila who, in a series of tweets on his official handle in the early hours of Friday, November 20, 2020, narrated how the incident took place.
According to him, the vendor was hit by a stray bullet meant to disperse a crowd when he went to greet newspaper vendors while leaving the National Assembly.
But Nigerians have since taken to Twitter to call out the Speaker for not speaking up in time and also querying the decision to arm private security operatives.
Below are some reactions from Nigerians on Twitter.
Take note, lie muhammad will come out tomorrow to say that nobody died, no fire shot and speaker Gbaja wasn't even in the traffic.

If @SaharaReporters had not named Femi Gbajabiamila as the person whose police security shot and killed a vendor in Abuja. He won't have owned up. And we would be thinking its was some random Abuja elite.
Check the time difference between the shooting and Gbaja's tweet.— Sohnwa (@AsaAlor) November 20, 2020

I do not agree with No1… Life is not worthless in Nigeria. But people like Femi Gbajabiamila and the security operatives knows that there system will not hold them accountable…
Kill their loved ones and you know the value of life in this same Nigeria

Ifeanyi Okereke was a Nigerian.
Ifeanyi Okereke was an Abuja based vendor.
His wife was delivered of a baby last Thursday.
Mr Femi Gbajabiamila is a member of the House of Representatives.
Mr Gbajabiamila (a VIP) is in the habit of doling out money to vendors whenever he is

If it was Femi Gbajabiamila's son or relative that was shot by his police escort. Would he still drive away unconcerned? Would he still fled the scene without bothering to know if he could save the victim? Think about it this…

Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila's convoy killed an innocent citizen and he asked the parents of the slain young man to travel several kilometers to Abuja to meet with them. Why can't @femigbaja go to them? Nothing exemplary here.

In the current technological age, how much does Ifeanyi Okereke make in a day as a newspaper vendor? Notwithstanding, he's still out there to make ends meet for him and his family. Why even fire the shot? It doesn't make sense Femi Gbajabiamila is drag to this state by his aide
