Barely a week ago, Access Bank made an official statement stating that it will be deducting stamp duties from their customers’ accounts for the months of February – April. The bank alleged that it forgot to deduct the stamp duty during those months for proper remission to the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The bank fulfilled its words and made a 3-months stamp duty deduction from its customers’ accounts, an act which has caused a public outrage on social media. The bank has however issued an apology to its customers for the late deduction of stamp duty. The bank has further promised to refund all individuals and Small Medium Enterprises that were debited.
