Following the uncontrollable emergency of the Almajiris in Northern states, it is the unified decision of Northern Governors to send back the Almajiris to their states of origin and to hand them over to their parents.
This decision will further check the poverty tradition existent among poor Northern families who turn their children into beggars in order to source for their families.
The Child Rights Act should be made effective against the maltreatment of the Almajiris by their guardians who make them go through a lot of emotional abuse by turning them to beggars that feed the family.
The Governors’ move on the Almajiris is quite commendable; however more should be done by the Governors to make sure that the children are not subjected to further abuse by their guardians. Also, law enforcement agents should be involved in order to prosecute guardians who go against the Child Rights Act.
