Asides from owning an airline, Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Allen Onyema became popular in Nigeria during South Africans xenophobic acts towards Nigerians.
The airline boss transported Nigerians back to the country free of charge. Infact, Onyema also told Nigerians that his staff who worked during that time decided not to be paid for their job.
According to him, they did it for their country.
Hence, when the report about the fraud and money laundering against Onyema broke out, Nigerians decided to share their opinions on social media.
While some declared their support until he is found guilty, some are hoping that it is not a case of fraud.
Read some reactions below:
Dear US Attorney,
Kindly leave Onyema, CEO Airpeace Airline alone for us..
He has done a lot for us, if this is a plan to rubbish his good will and make him look like a fraud, you have failed..
Onyema is a billionaire airline business man, the $20M is his money and not fraud. pic.twitter.com/G9vVK889Eo

An indictment is not a proof of guilt. Using funds from the NGO to purchase items for the airline may not necessarily be a crime if it was properly approved. Let's see what goes down at trial. For now, Allen Onyeoma is innocent until proven otherwise #airpeace

It’s Sad to hear about the charge against Allen Onyema.?
I hope Airpeace doesn’t go down with him if found guilty.
Air peace gave other airlines in Nigeria a huge competition, forcing them to lower flight rates. December flight rates are about to skyrocket more than ever before.— DADDY-EAGLE™? (@iamthe_eagle) November 23, 2019

Allen Onyema moved 20million dollars to a newly opened US account, which is above the international regulation for money transfer; hence, termed money laundering by US govt.
He's not a fraudster until the source of the wired funds are confirmed. Y'all need to take a chill pill.

Allen Onyema purchased 10 airplanes years back.
An American journalist made a phony tweets on how a "3rd world country" business man could afford to purchase that fleet of flight.Today, They're charging him of Money laundry which they haven't proven (very unlike them).

Chief Allen Onyema never defrauded any American citizen/s nor stole anyone's money. The money is his. The only problem here is that the document & purpose for which the money was moved around is false. Don't be so stupid to call Chief a fraud until proven guilty.

As an individual, I appreciate Allen onyeama for all the 'good' he has done but I am also wise enough to know that they don't make him incapable of committing crime.

Whilst I stand with Allen Onyeama, I say let the United States Department of Justice carry out ALL investigations and leave no stones unturned. If he is found guilty, let him face the full wrath of the law. #AirPeaceGate #airpeace
