DoorDash, a San Francisco-Based Food Delivery Company, recently acquired autonomous driving startup; Scotty Labs; a teleoperations company that has worked extensively on building innovative tech aimed at helping people remotely control self-driving cars, for an undisclosed amount.
This is coming after the food delivery company purchased rival Caviar for $410 million USD in cash and DoorDash stock. According to Tobenna Arodiogbu, CEO and Co-founder of the startup;
“We’ll share more updates in the near future but for now, we’re really excited to be part of the amazing DoorDash family and looking forward to building something magical together,”
In March, Scotty Labs raised a $6 million seed round from Gradient Ventures, with participation from Horizon Ventures and Hemi Ventures, as the start-up constantly aims at building technology to enable people to remotely control self-driving cars.
Going by this partnership, the future of robot enabled delivery is near, as this might signal the launch of a new era seeing that DoorDash has once experimented with robot delivery through a partnership with Starship Technologies and Marble in 2017.
