The US State Government has imposed a Visa restriction on Nigerian believed to have played a part in rigging the 2019 General elections in the country.
The announcement of this decision was made public by the US Department of State spokesperson, Morgan Ortagus, who said;
“The United States has imposed visa restrictions on those believed to have undermined the democratic process throughout Nigeria’s 2019 elections. The U.S. remains committed to working with President Buhari to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy and improve respect for human rights“
She also noted that the visa restrictions were not directed at the newly elected government or the Nigerian people, but specific people.
