The African Women in Media conference 2019, would be held in Nairobi. The Conference would be held from the 25th July-27th July. This year, the theme is SHOWCASE with the aim of tackling urgent issues facing women in media, and media in Africa more widely.
This year’s conference would convene experts from Media, Communications, Cultural Studies, Journalism, Marketing Communications, Political Communication, Development, Public Relations, Film, Performing Arts, Gender Studies, ICTs, Blockchain, Media Education. Some of the speakers at the conference include; Lola Omolola; Founder Female In, Ized Uanikheki; Co-founder, TORA Africa, Okore Scheaffer, Chief of Trade and Investment, Pan African Chamber of Commerce, Wynne Musabayana, Head of Communication, African Union Commission, Aderonke Adeola, Writer, Director and Producer, Biola Alabi, Leslie Richer, Asha Mwilu, Rachael Ombaka, Nini Wacera amongst many others.
About the conference, the convener and CEO, African Women in Media; Dr Yemisi Akinbobola, said;
“We have come a long way to get to where we are, and still have so many amazing things to contribute to improving the representation of African women in media content, and the working conditions of African women working in media industries”
Some of the sessions included in the 2-day conference are; Workshops, Pitch zone as well as the Networking lunch
This year’s conference, which the third in its series would be held at the University of Nairobi Towers, Kenya.
