The Nigerian police said it has arrested the officers involved in the death of Kolade Johnson.
In a statement by its spokesperson, Bala Elkana, on Monday, it said the culprits have been arrested and investigation is already in full gear.
The statement announced that three officers have been taken into custody and face dismissal and prosecution. The statement said that: “Members of the team suspected to be involved in the shooting have since been arrested and are currently in Police custody undergoing interrogation.”
Mr Johnson was killed by men suspected to be from the police special anti-cultism unit as he watched a football match in his neighbourhood on Sunday evening.
Nigerians have since demanded justice for the slain man and his family as well as an overhaul of all police special units, with many wondering why there was an anti-cultism unit in the first place.
The police have now reacted to the outrage with the statement.
