Judge John Lyke of Cook County has set the bail for R Kelly at $1 million and called the allegations “disturbing” during a hearing on Saturday.
R Kelly, 52, was in a black hooded sweatshirt and listen with his head bowed as Prosecutors outlined the case against him.
The judge also ordered Kelly not to have contact with anyone under the age of 18. According to the prosecutor, three of the four victims were under age 17 at the time of the abuse, and the singer has been charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse which each carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
His lawyer Steven Greenberg told reporters on Friday night that prosecutors had “rushed to judgment” due to public pressure.
“He’s an innocent man,” Greenberg said.
The indictment accuses R Kelly of sexual acts with underage girls using force or threat of force.
R Kelly turned himself in Friday night, just hours after Chicago police issued a warrant for his arrest.
