Jussie Smollett has been removed from the final Season 5 episodes of the Fox series “Empire” following his arrests on Friday. In a statement released on Friday, series executives Lee Daniels, Danny Strong, Brett Mahoney, Brian Grazer, Sanaa Hamri, Francie Calfo and Dennis Hammer said the allegations were very disturbing and recognise the effect the process has on other members of crew, and have decided to remove the actor from the final two episodes of the season.“Jussie has been an important member of our ‘Empire’ family for the past five years and we care about him deeply. While these allegations are very disturbing, we are placing our trust in the legal system as the process plays out. We are also aware of the effects of this process on the cast and crew members who work on our show and to avoid further disruption on set, we have decided to remove the role of ‘Jamal’ from the final two episodes of the season.”Fox had earlier issued multiple statements in support of the actor, but look to have backtracked now after his arrest.Smollett who was charged with filing a false report to the police surrendered himself to the police. The actor had on Jan 29 claimed he was attacked by two men who hurled racist and homophobic slurs at him.He also claimed the men beat him and poured an unknown substance on him.During investigation, Police discovered that he had paid two brothers, Olabinjo Osundairo and Abimbola Osundairo to help him stage the attack.
