Former Real Madrid player, Cristiano Ronaldo has mocked Atletico Madrid of with his five Champions League medal despite his team losing
The Atletico Madrid supporters gave him a torrid time throughout the encounter due to his affiliation with arch rivals Real Madrid.
His team could have lost, but Ronaldo couldn’t resist having his say as he held up five fingers at intervals during the game to signal his five Champions League.
At the end of the game, while walking through the mixed zone, he said: “I have five Champions Leagues, you [Atletico] have none.”
Ronaldo was making his first return to the Spanish capital since his summer move from Real Madrid to Turin.
Atletico overcame the Italian Champions through goals from Gimenez and Diego Godin on a night dominated by controversy surrounding the Video Assistant Referee [VAR].
Ronaldo, 34, won the Champions League once with Manchester United and four times with Real Madrid, including twice against Atletico Madrid in 2014 and 2016. Only six-time winner Paco Gento has won the trophy more times.
He is also the highest goal scorer in the history of the competition, ahead of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
