The Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) has withdrawn its support for its presidential candidate, Oby Ezekwesili.
The party also declared its support for President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released on Thursday after Ezekwesili withdrew from the Presidential race in support of a coalition, the party says it is throwing it support behind President Buhari to “take Nigeria to the next level.”
The statement was signed by Gani Galadima, the party’s national chairman and running mate of Mrs Ezekwesili and the party’s National Secretary, Paul Isamade.
“The Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) is withdrawing support for her presidentia| aspiration and endorsing the second term bid of President Muhammadu Buhari to take Nigeria to the next level,” the statement reads.
The party also said she took the decision despite resistance from the party.
“This she does not seeing fit to inform the party whose mandate she is holding,” the party stated.
The party also accused her of using its platform to negotiate to be Nigeria’s Minister for finance.
“I have been put into confidence by one of her aide named lyinoluwa Aboyeji that she only wanted to use the platform of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) to negotiate to be Nigeria’s finance minister.”
The party also asked her to return the money she received for her campaign as well as all other properties of the party.
