The maiden edition of The Event Xperience Africa (TEXA) 2019, ended yesterday with industry leaders Ibukun Awosika Chairman First Bank Ltd, Yewande Zaccheus CEO Eventful Ltd, Luxury Event Designer,
Ziad Nassar, and Yemi Amusan, CEO, Lucere Limited, US Event Planner, Chioma Nwogu Johnson among others in attendance.
TEXA was convened by event management pioneer and entrepreneur, Funke Bucknor-Obruthe. Themed
‘Be More, Do More: Inspiring New Frontiers’, the 3-day conference brought event and allied industries’
stakeholders together to discuss key issues such as professionalism, brand building, business operations,
finance, hospitality, taking new industry territories and so much more.
The 3-day conference was packed with over 500 attendees from across Lagos, Abuja, Abia, Minna, Kano, Port Harcourt, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Cote d Ivoire and Kenya.
Delivering the keynote presentation on be More, Do More, Mrs Awosika charged attendees to embrace knowledge and capacity building on the journey towards becoming more. This was supported by Mrs Yewande Zaccheus who encouraged attendees to maintain the spirit of excellence and professionalism’.
Speaking on wedding planning, Ziad Nassar talked about his experience working with Arab royals and pointed out that every planner must ensure they deliver the wow experience at every event. The convener also encouraged attendees to ensure they build staying power so event professionals can “…be more together” and the industry can be a greater force to be reckoned.
The conference opened on Day 1, January 15 with a welcome cocktail at the beach, Day 2 featured general sessions, curated classes and Day 3 continued with general sessions, event showcase, exhibitions and wrapped up with a general Question & Answer session with the convener, Funke Bucknor-Obruthe.
