When residents of a building in China’s Zhejiang province heard an infant crying, they called for help. That’s when rescuers discovered a newborn lodged in a pipe leading from a toilet.

They attempted to pull him out but finally sawed through the pipe and taking the entire section to the hospital. Watch as the 4-inch-diameter pipe is dissected to reveal the child, placenta still attached.

The baby, named Baby No. 59 after his hospital incubator number, is doing fine, but folks on Weibo (China’s version of Twitter) are outraged, posting comments like “The parents who did this have hearts even filthier than that sewage pipe.” Police are treating the case as attempted murder and are searching for the parents.
