Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has told reporters that the windy conditions at Wolverhmpton wanderers is partly to blame for his team’s loss in the FA Cup on Monday.
Klopp named a changed side for the trip to Wolves and said there were little he could have done to changed things, as the congested fixtures of the festive period made it almost impossible to name a more experienced side. The loss also made it consecutive losses for Klopp’s men after the defeat at Manchester in their last game.
” I am not sure what you all would have said if immediately from the beginning if our centre-half situation was Fabinho and Ki-Jana; then probably a few very smart people would tell me that I don’t respect the competition or whatever.” Klopp said in relation to Lovrem who left the pitch injured in the first half.
He also said many were ill after the game at Manchester, and was forced to start many youngsters.
” We had a few players who were ill after the Manchester City game. The wind didn’t help, players struggled to control the ball.”
Liverpool under Klopp have now failed to get to the later stages of the FA Cup in all four attempts, and this reveals a worrying pattern.
Liverpool’s face Brighton, Crystal Palace and Leicester City in their next three Premier League fixtures.
