The Federal Government has failed to reach an agreement to end the industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The meeting, presided over by Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige ended after leaders of the Union walked out of the meeting.
The walk out was led by Professor Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, who refused to tell reporters why they walked out.
The latest means the strike by members of ASUU in all concerned Universities in the country continues. Today was initially earmarked as the day that would determine whether the strike would be suspended or not after the adjournment of last week.
The industrial action which started in November after a meeting of its national leadership at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, the Ondo State capital. The strike was to protest the poor funding of Nigerian Universities and the non-implementation of previous agreements by the Government.
