The Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 hosted and presented by the Motsepe Foundation will take place on Sunday, 2 December 2018 at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The first Global Citizen Festival to be held in Africa will be featuring Beyoncé & JAY-Z, Cassper Nyovest, D’banj, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Femi Kuti, Pharrell Williams & Chris Martin, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Usher, Wizkid & Kacey Musgraves as the headliners.
Trevor Noah will host the festival and co-hosts by Naomi Campbell, Dave Chappelle, Sir Bob Geldof, Gayle King, Bonang Matheba, Nomzamo Mbatha, Tyler Perry, and Forest Whitaker.
These artists will be joined by world leaders and private sector leaders to make commitments on the issues surrounding extreme poverty.
Tickets to the festival are accessed through points earned by taking actions to fight extreme poverty, such as signing petitions, sending tweets and more.
The Global Citizen Festival is a free music festival where fans engage with causes in order to win tickets. they have hosted festivals in New York City, USA; Mumbai, India; and Hamburg, Germany, since 2012, and featured artists like Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Chris Martin and Coldplay, Shakira, Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, and more.
