Review:
Kemi Adetiba is genius and a legend all in one, King of boys is a movie that is out of this world.
The movie is one of the most intelligent, smartest and intriguing Indegenious movie that has been released so far, A movie that depicts the harsh reality of Nigerian politics, corruptions, and Godfatherism, and money laundering.
Sola Sobowale, who was the main character played her role effortlessly, the interception of her past and the present was one of the major highpoints for me, her personality and how she uses different Yoruba parables to express her was another catchy elements of the movie.
She was the king, that controlled things, she wanted more power and had enemies even in her realm, her daughter Kemi Salami (Adesua Etomi) was herĀ right hand ”man” she knew everything and knows how to play the game.
Tragedy strikes! she was going to lose every single thing she had worked for, her past came back haunting, not to forget Makaniki (Reminisce) who wanted the throne and Aare Akinwade(Akin Lewis) that wanted to teach her a lesson and render her powerless.
The suspense in this movie was on a different level, every scene, every action were interlinked to where the director wanted to take us to.
Just when we thought we could tell what would happen next, the game changed! She made us guess and think.
Aside from the suspense, lessons learnt can’t be overemphasized, how the thirst of power can destroy, the price of not being loyal, the art of loyalty, the decays of the society we live in, how power can change at any time and the power of identity.
For me, this is one of the best Nigerian moviesĀ so far.
