A gunman has killed eleven worshippers at an American Synagogue during a circumcision ceremony, killing 11 people.
The gunman, Robert Bowers, 46 carried an arsenal that included a semi-automatic rifle and handguns into the congregation in the suburb of Pittsburgh in the heart of the City’s Jewish community.
There were about 100 people in the synagogue at the time of the shooting. They were there for a circumcision.
The shooter before the incident left a trail of his anti-semitic rhetoric on social media, including on Twitter.
Just an hour before the attack, he wrote on Gab – a social media forum that doesn’t censor speech that Jewish were “invaders” that “were killing our people”
Five minutes before the police were alerted about the shooting, the shooter wrote: “I can’t sit by and watch my people get slaughtered. Screw your optics, I’m going in.”
The shooter later gave himself up after he was injured but kept saying: “All these Jews have to die,”
Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu said: “The entire people of Israel grieve with the families of the dead. We stand together with the Jewish community of Pittsburgh, we stand together with the American people in the face of this horrendous anti-Semitic brutality and we all pray for the speedy recovery of the wounded,” he said.
