United States President, Donald Trump is proud of his wife’s performance in the African continent. According to him, she “is doing really well in Africa.”
Trump tweeted: “Our country’s great First Lady, Melania, is doing really well in Africa. The people love her, and she loves them! It is a beautiful thing to see.”
Melania is in Africa visiting Ghana, Kenya, Malawi and Egypt on a solo tour in the continent. She arrived on Tuesday in Ghana and is currently in Kenya.
During her stay in Ghana, she visited a former slave fort saying, “what happened so many years ago is really a tragedy”. In Malawi, she visited a primary school in Malawi’s capital, Lilongwe where she was accompanied with Malawi’s First Lady Gertrude Mutharika.
In Kenya she’ll be visiting the country’s wildlife and will be watching a performance at the National Theatre. She’s also looking forward to meeting her Kenyan counterpart, Margaret Kenyatta.
Her visit has however received an indifferent reception. A small group of Americans living in Malawi held a protest against her tour, saying they are against her husband’s style of government and plans to cut aid.
Mrs Trump is promoting her “Be Best” campaign in Africa, which seeks to improve the lives of children.
