President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in China for the 7th Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (#FOCAC2018) which is scheduled to hold September 3-4, 2018 in Beijing.
As ECOWAS chairman, Buhari will deliver a speech in a meeting between Chinese and African leaders, business representatives and African entrepreneurs before the formal opening of the summit.
Buhari will first have an interactive session with the Nigerian Community in China at the Nigerian Embassy.
First lady, Aisha Buhari, accompanied the President so as to participate in a Spouses’ Programme on China-Africa themed, “Joining Hands for a Future of AIDS”
On the Presidents entourage are nine ministers, four governors – Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi State, Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State and Rochas Okorocha of Imo State – and four senators alongside National Security Advisor, head of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the GMD of the NNPC.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi; Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola; and Minister of FCT Muhammad Bello, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Okechukwu Enelamah, Minister of Budget and National Planning Udoma Udo Udoma, Minister of Water Resource Suleiman Adamu, Minister of State, Petroleum Resources Ibe Kachikwu and Minister of State, Aviation Hadi Sirika, are all in China for the summit.
Buhari’s trip to China rounds off a week that saw the President host British Prime Minister Theresa May and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
