Facebook co-founder, Mark Zukerberg has overtaken Warren Buffet to become the third-richest person in the world as Facebook shares rose 2.4% on friday.
Zukerberg is now worth $US81.6 billion ($109.8 billion), about $US373 million more than Buffett, the chairman and chief executive officer of investment company Berkshire Hathaway who was previously the third richest man in the world.
It further solidifies Tech as the biggest creator of wealth in the world, as Zukerberg is only beaten by Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos and Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates.
The ascent was buoyed by Facebook’s stocks, which saw off the data-privacy crisis to close with a record $US203.23 on friday
It is the first time that the three richest men in the world made their fortune from technology.
