Famous international TV show host Ellen Degeneres was in Rwanda recently. Her visit to Rwanda was filled with endorsements unlike her low key visit to Kenya where she spent time with giraffes.Ellen and President Kagame also had the honor of meeting in Rwanda.
Ellen made a low-key visit to Kenya in what she termed as a mini-vacation.
Although some kenyans don’t seem to mind, some were left mourning a missed opportunity as American host Ellen DeGeneres openly endorsed tourism in neighboring Rwanda only a day after leaving Nairobi.
The 60-year-old talk show host shared a variety of photos of her and her wife Portia De Rossi living it up at popular Giraffe Manor in Karen, Nairobi.
There were however questions raised over the secretive manner in which Ellen, made her way into the country. Further questions were raised on Tuesday, May 29, when it emerged the show host was in Rwanda on a similar tour, only this time, there were some economic benefits.
According to TUKO.co.ke, Ellen was actually out to benefit Rwanda as far as the tourism sector was concerned. The show host on Tuesday visited a site where she is set to establish the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. In addition, Ellen proudly held the Visit Rwanda banner alongside president Paul Kagame as they took to market tourism in the country. Kenya has been regarded as at a loss for failing to capitalise on her presence in the country.
