Since the altercation between Sunday Are and Tekno at the just concluded One Africa Music Fest Dubai, fans and critics have weighed on the situation with some attacking the singer for being disrespectful to an elder and others blaming the veteran artist manager for over reacting on the matter.
Their quarrel started backstage when Wizkid’s experienced and jovial manager insisted the ‘Pana’ crooner was not going to perform before Tiwa Savage because he wanted Wizzy to join the Mavin First Lady on stage as she performed their collaboration “Ma lo”.
This of course didn’t go down well with Tekno who had been itching to perform. The singer walked up to Sunday Are, a respectable elderly man who is known to have managed some of the biggest music stars today and disrespectfully greeted him. Sunday Are as a true African man reacted to this by ignoring the greeting, then Tekno felt slighted and poured his drink on him, insulting the man in the process. In-between their exchange of words, Sunday Are punched Tekno’s phone saying he doesn’t have respect probably because he thinks he’s now rated amongst the likes of Wizkid, PSquare and a few others.

Since we first reported their backstage fight, many believe Sunday Are over reacted and should have acted in a more civil manner since he was the older one. Others maintain tribe difference might have been the root cause of their altercation.
But in the first place who was wrong? Did Tekno act in a manner fitting for a celebrity and public figure? Did he truly disrespect Sunday Are, knowing fully well how influential he is in the industry? Did Sunday Are overreacted in response? Did Davido’s camp cease on the opportunity to attack Wizkid? These are questions that demand some answers.
As we attempt to find answers, some have fingered Davido in the mix, adding that he engineered the process as far back as July, when Wizkid said he had a frog voice.
Recall that Davido and his 15-man entourage arrived the One Africa Music Fest venue minutes after nerves were calmed, but decided to escalate the matter.
Although, Davido did not directly react to the incident, some members of his 30 Billion gang took it upon themselves to attack Wizkid at the concert.
