The body of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the suspected Boston Marathon bomber who died in a shootout with police on Friday, was rejected by a mosque in the Boston area, which refused to bury him or hold a funeral when the suspect’s aunt and uncle approached the worship center.
Imam Talal Eid of the Islamic Institute of Boston explains, “I would not be willing to do a funeral for him. This is a person who deliberately killed people. There is no room for him as a Muslim.” His younger brother, believed to be his accomplice, is recovering at a Boston hospital, and has said that while they acted alone, they were inspired by an al-Qaida propaganda magazine.
