TEMIE GIWA-TUBOSUN OF LIFEBANK NIGERIA EMERGES THE WINNER OF 2019 AFRICA BUSINESS HERO AWARD

Temie Giwa-Tubosun has won the 2019 Africa Business Hero Award for her LifeBank Nigeria startup.

The award is an initiative of Alibaba Group’s co-founder, Jack Ma, under the Africa Netprener Prize Initiative.

The initiative is Ma’s flagship project to support 10 African entrepreneurs by awarding them every year with a shared amount of $1M grant over the next 10 years.

The award got applications from more than 10,000 startups from 50 of Africa’s 54 countries. Out of the thousands, 50 were judged, then 20, and finally the 10 and Temie made the cut in all the categories.

On November 16, she won the sum of $250,000 for her startup, as the winner.

Giwa-Tubosun is the founder of LifeBank, a healthcare technology and logistics company based in Lagos, Nigeria. It is a health startup that facilitates the transmission of blood from labs across the country to patients and doctors in hospitals.

Temie set up her organization to tackle the problem of blood shortage in Nigeria, following the experience from her complication of her first childbirth.

Congratulations to her.
