Emiliano Sala’s Father Dies Of Heart Attack Three Months After His Son’s Death

The father of Cardiff City player, Emiliano Sala, who was killed in a plane crash earlier this year, has died three months after the death of his son.

Horacio Sala, 58, reportedly suffered a heart attack on Friday, according to friends and president of his local club.

He passed away before doctors arrived at his home in Progreso.

This comes three months after his son’s plane crashed en route to Cardiff, from France.

The Argentine player was on his way to joining Cardiff City from French club Nantes in a club record £15m deal when the plane crashed over the English Channel.

Mayor of Progreso, Julio Muller, who led tributes for Mr Sala said he was unable to “close that circle” even after the discovery of his son’s body.

“Horacio could not overcome Emi, we thought that after the discovery he would be able to close that circle.”

Cardiff City also offered its “deepest condolences” to Mr Sala’s friends and family.

“They are very much in the thoughts of us all at this difficult time,” a spokesman said.

The plane carrying the player, Piper Malibu N264DB, went missing with Sala and pilot David Ibbotson on board near the Channel Islands on 21 January and it took rescuers two weeks to find the wreckage.

Sala’s body was found on February 8 after a private rescue team took over the search for the missing plane.

The body of the pilot has not been found.
