CCT Insists Prosecution Has Enough Evidence To Charge Onnoghen

The Code of Tribunal (CCT) sitting in Abuja on Friday rejected the no-case submission made by Suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria Walter Onnoghen and ordered him to defend the allegations levelled against him.

Ruling on the matter, the CCT insisted that the fact the defendant had confessed to the omission in his document was enough to charge him.

The CCT chairman, Danladi Umar said the prosecution had enough evidence to establish a case against Onnoghen.

Umar made reference to the commission admitted by Onnoghen on his declaration of five domiciliary accounts he had been operating with Standard Chartered Bank since 2009.

He thereafter adjourned the case to Monday, April 1, 2019 after which the defence team erupted into a shouting match as they protested the order and its timing.
