Manchester City Edge Leicester 3-1 On Penalties To Qualify For Semi-Final Of League Cup

Champion Manchester City qualified for the Carabao Cup semi-finals after beating Leicester City 3-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at the King Power Stadium.

The game ended 1-1 in normal, and as is the norm in the league cup went straight to penalties. The home side missed three penalties while Raheem Sterling’s dinked attempt was saved. It was up to Ukraine left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko to score the decisive penalty and he didn’t disappoint, driving the decisive kick into the top corner.

City started with an eleven that was a mixture of youth and experience as Sergio Aguero, De Bruyne and Kyle Walker started.

The holders took the lead in the 14th minute through Kevin de Bruyne who was returning from injury. Leicester regrouped in the second half and equalised through  Marc Albrighton.

League One side Burton beat Championship team Middlesbrough to also advance to the last four, while Arsenal face bitter rivals Tottenham and Chelsea host Bournemouth in Wednesday’s remaining quarter-finals.
