Gareth Bale has ended his run of 802 minutes without a goal with the winner as Madrid edge past bottom side Huesca 1-0 on Sunday top stay within five points of first position Barcelona.
The goal was the Welshman’s first in the league since the start of September and ended a run of bad form in front of goal. It is his longest stretch without a league goal since joining Real Madrid from Tottenham.
The goal also lifts Madrid to fourth on the table and within touching distance of the leading pack.
Real coach, Scolari said: “He (Bale) and the rest of the team were all fantastic. He scored a great goal and it was enough to get the win,” said Real coach Santiago Solari.
“His goal and the general character of the team were crucial in taking all three points.”
“It wasn’t a game to remember, but if you want to win La Liga, you have to win these matches,” the Argentine added.
Madrid have endured an inconsistent season that has seen the Champions League giant sack their coach.
