Usain Bolt Turns Down Malta Football Offer
Olympic medalist, Usain Bolt has turned down the offer of a football contract with Maltese champions Valletta. His agent disclosed this saying Bolt will remain in Australia to pursue his football dream of becoming a professional footballer.
Bolt who has been on trial with A-League club, Central Coast Mariners since he arrived Australia in August scored two goals during a pre-season friendly against Macarthur South West United in Sydney.
He is however yet to be offered a deal.
Malta offered him a two-year trial free contract to entice him away from Australia. Bolt’s agent, Ricky Simms said the former athlete opted against a move to the Maltese Premier League team, which is backed by a group of investors from the Sanban Group in the United Arab Emirates.
The former athlete who retired last year has previously tried out with clubs in Germany, South Africa, and Norway to no avail before settling in Australia.
