Luke Shaw Asks United Players To Take Responsibility For Poor Results

Manchester United’s left back has asked his fellow Manchester United players to take responsibility for the team’s poor showing of late.

Shaw was reacting after United’s third loss of the season against West Ham which left the team 10th on the log. Speaking to the press after the game, the English left back apologised to supporters for what he called an “awful” performance and asked the players to take an inward look at themselves.

He said:

“If you want the truth I think it was honestly horrendous,”

“We didn’t look like a team that was going to beat West Ham. I think individually and as a team we were awful.

“That’s not good enough. It’s hard to take and we’re sorry to the fans for what they saw. It was not good enough from a Man Utd team with all the talent we have.”

United’s 10 points is the joint lowest point haul ever in the league after 7 games, and the cracks on the field are only endemic of those off the field after news that under pressure manager, Jose Mourinho has fallen out with midfielder Paul Pogba.

But Shaw believes it is the players that should take responsibility for results.

“We have to look at ourselves as players,” he said.

“We’re the ones who go on the pitch. The manager isn’t on the pitch, is he?”
