Federal Government Suspends National Carrier, Nigerian Air Indefinitely

The Federal Government of Nigeria has suspended the National Carier, Nigerian Air indefinitely.

This comes only weeks after the unveiling of the carrier, which was initially scheduled to take off in November.

Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, on Wednesday said:

“I regret to announce that the Federal Executive Council has taken the tough decision to suspend the National Carrier Project in the interim. All commitments due will be honoured,”

“We thank the public for the support as always.”

The carrier was budgeted for in 2017 and 2018 with the sum of N555 million allocated for it establishment and N200 million for consultancy.

The national carrier was unveiled on July 18, 2018, at the Farnborough Air Show in London.
