7 years gone- Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun (Dagrin)
Today, Nigerians remember one of the finest thing that happened to Indigenous rap in Africa, Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun (Dagrin). He was the most promising Nigerian musical talent to emerge in this decade.
Barack O’Grin came into limelight with his single “Pon Pon Pon”, which earned him the nomination for Best Rap Act and Best Collaboration with vocals at Nigerian Entertainment Awards, in 2010.
During his short musical career, he managed to amass a strong body of work including numerous collaborations with fellow musicians. Amongst who were Omawumi, YQ, KSB, Sheyman, 9ice, M.I, Iceberg Slim, to mention a few.
His album C.E.O. won him the Hip hop World Award 2010 for best rap album.
The talented rapper died same year from injuries he sustained from a ghastly motor accident at age 22. A film of his life Ghetto Dreamz telling his life story was released in 2011 amidst some controversies.
