Lionel Messi Gets Four Match Ban For Misconduct
Lionel Messi has been banned from Argentina’s next four World Cup qualifiers, starting with the game against Bolivia.
The footballer was banned for “directly insulting an assistant referee” during a qualifier against Chile on Thursday.
“This decision is in line with the FIFA Disciplinary Committee’s previous rulings in similar cases,” FIFA said.
Messi was also fined 10,000 Swiss francs ($10,160). Its however unknown if the Argentine soccer federation will appeal the ban.
