‘La La Land’ tops British Film awards nomination list
According to the list released by the organiser (www.bafta.org) on Tuesday, ‘LaLa La Land’ is nominated for best Film, Original Music, Cinematography and Editing.
It also got nomination for Best Production Design, Costume Design and Sound.
Damien Chazelle, the Director of the romantic movie, also got nomination for both Best Director and the ‘Original Screenplay’ category.
Both Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone who starred in the film were nominated for Leading Actor and Leading Actress categories respectively.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that La La Land, which has been nominated for various awards, is a 2016 American romantic musical film comedy written and directed by Damien Chazelle.
It featured top stars John Legend, Emma Stone, Rosemarie DeWitt and Ryan Gosling.
The plot follows a musician and an aspiring actress who meets and falls in love in Los Angele.
La La Land had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival (VFF) on August 31, 2016, and was released in the United States on December 9, 2016 by Summit Entertainment.
The film received widespread acclaim from critics and has grossed 85 million dollars worldwide in less than six months of its release.
It was chosen by the America Film Institute as one of the top ten films of 2016, and won the Critics’ Choice Move Award for Best Picture.
The BAFTA is an independent charity that supports, develops and promotes the art forms of the moving image by identifying and rewarding excellence, inspiring practitioners and benefiting the public.
The 2017 edition of the annual award to be hosted by the veteran English presenter Stephen Fry, is scheduled to hold on Sunday February 12, at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
