Winpad 2 Review- The Devil Is In The Detail
If you have been surfing the internet lately you might have seen some videos on the unboxing of Tecno’s latest WinPad 2. If you missed it, why not stick around as I give my own recommendations of this new device- The devil is in the detail.
It takes approximately 28secs to power the WinPad 2 device, while about 4.5secs to turn it off.
WHAT’S HOME? – A MICROSOFT FEEL!
I liked the home screen. You know this is a Windows device yeah? Ok, the Microsoft store doesn’t offer a lot of apps on the WinPad 2, unlike your personal computer. The Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel Mobile and some games were the only apps available.
THE OPERATING SYSTEM
From its operating system, this device coins part of its name. WIN-PAD: Windows+Pad. This gadget operates with the latest Windows 10 oS.
The file manager operates exactly like a PC, organizing all your files to one corner at the left. The picture gallery names pictures with the suffix ‘WIN_’
STORAGE AND PERFORMANCE
The WinPad 2 has an impressive 57GB internal storage which is an upgrade from its predecessor- WinPad 10, with 32GB. Also available is an option to expand with a MicroSD card up to 64GB, with RAM of 2GB.
Games run smoothly, I jumped on the Asphalt game immediately I saw it. The Asphalt 8 runs very smooth and swerving is apt on this device. The 3D effect is also very captivating, capable of making any game lover go gaga at one play.
The device operates with a micro-sim or also with a connected Wi-Fi. While reviewing this device I operated it with a Wi-Fi.
It also possesses Bluetooth 4.0
The WinPad 2 device packs a whooping 7000mAh which should provide it about 24hrs battery life on full charge. Although I wasn’t time conscious while charging, but I think it should take up to 3hrs approximately to charge fully.
Like some of you have seen in the unboxing video, the device comes with a cute little keyboard which is easily detachable in just a breeze. Without the keyboard, the device becomes a Pad and operates as one, tapping and swiping.
NOW TO THE CAMERA…
I wasn’t particularly impressed with the quality of the 5MP rear and 2MP back and front camera respectively. Although only few pads come with high resolution cameras, I felt Tecno could have done better.
Also the slow shutter speed of the camera makes the camera a no for me.
One USB cable/charger
One charger head with two separate pins
Free leather pouch
Product manual, warranty card & palm chat leaflet
HDMI port (cable not included)
FINALLY HERE’S WHAT I THINK..
Although the WinPad 2 feels like a normal PC to me, I won’t fail to acknowledge the fact that it is extremely portable! It actually fits into my smallest handbag and I can carry it anywhere- My mobile office. Whatever you do on a PC can be done on a WinPad 2, and even more. But don’t take my word for it, buy a WinPad 2 and experience Life at ease!
