Idris Elba turns down James Bond role offer
Idris Elba, the popular award-winning actor, appears to have disappointed fans by ruling himself out as the next James Bond.
The British actor has long been rumored to be one of the top candidates to replace Daniel Craig as the England’s top big screen super spy.
Craig has said he’s done with the role even though he is contractually obligated to do one more movie.
Elba on Thursday told Good Morning America that the idea of playing Bond seems like a stretch.
“It is the wildest rumor in the world,” He said. “I keep saying if it were to happen it would be the will of a nation because there hasn’t been any talks between me and the studio about any of that. “But everywhere I go people want that to happen.”
The Beast of No Nation star added:
“If I’m really honest man, I think I’m too old for that,” he said. “Running around in cars, and ladies and martinis, who wants to do that? Sounds terrible.”
Oh yeah … awful. Doesn’t get much worse than that.”
